Iluka Nature Reserve |
WHAT'S ON THIS PAGE:
INTRODUCTION:
The Iluka Nature Reserve conserves some 136 hectares of world heritage listed rainforest to the south of Bundjalung National Park. There are more than 140 species of bird represented in the reserve.
The Iluka Nature Reserve is reached via Iluka Road, north of Maclean.
The Iluka Bluff Picnic Area provides the usual picnic facilities including gas BBQs and also has a viewing platform. Though there is no camping facilities at Iluka Nature Reserve, there is a caravan park in nearby Iluka, as well as camping facilities within Bundjalung National Park nearby.
WALKING:
Iluka Track:
The Iluka Track can be reached via the Iluka Bluff Picnic Area off Iluka Road or via Long Street in Iluka itself. The walk is a 2.5km one way track passing through the entire length of the reserve. The walk is easy and can be used by wheelchairs. It takes somewhere between 1.5-2.5 hours to complete a return 5km walk of the track.
