INTRODUCTION
The Currawinya National Park is a 1 500 square kilometre Park some 840km west of Brisbane. It is a park that preserves an important waterway for Australian water birds. At times there are in excess of 250 000 birds in the park.
The national park's visitors are often 4WD owners as the park's remoteness and dirt roads which are impassable in the wet almost entirely rule out 2WD vehicles. Access is from Bourke (237km) in the south and Cunnamulla (172km) in the north along the Hungerford Road.
