Main Range National Park |
WHAT'S ON THIS PAGE:
INTRODUCTION
Main Range National Park lies some 120km south west of Brisbane and protects some 18 500 hectares of World Hertiage Rainforest and Mountainous region.
Cunningham's Gap is reached via the Cunningham Highway, some 50km east of Warrick.
The Mount Roberts section of Main Range National Park is reached via the Killarney-Boonah Road.
CAMPING:
Cunningham's Gap:
This camping area is on the banks of West Gap Creek, right next to the park's headquarters. There are tables, toilets and water. There is a walking track to Cunningham's Gap from the camping area. The camping area is 3.5km west of Cunningham's Gap.
Spicer's Gap Camping Area:
Spicer's Gap is a site of historical significance.
WALKING:
Mt Cordeaux Track:
This is a 6.8km track to the top of Mt Cordeaux, taking in Fassifern Valley Lookout, Palm Grove and Mt Cordeaux. There is also a 2.4km detour to Morgan's Lookout with views over the northern section of the park. Another track leads off from the lookout to Bare Rock.
Mt Mitchell Circuit:
The Mt Mitchell Circuit is a 10.2 km walk which begins on the southern side of the highway at Cunningham's Gap.
Mt Matheson Trail:
This walk begins at the Spicer's Gap Camping Area. It is a 3.6km trail.
Queen Mary Falls:
The Queen Mary Falls are reached via the Killarney-Boonah Road, 10km east of Killarney.
